Quantification of Left Atrial Fibrosis in Patients After Pulmonary Vein Isolation Using the Second-Generation Cryoballoon

نویسندگان

چکیده

Left atrial (LA) fibrosis is associated with a poor outcome after fibrillation (AF) ablation. This study examined the extent of low-voltage areas in patients recurrence tachyarrhythmia (ATA) CB-based pulmonary vein isolation (PVI).

Cryoballoon Ablation for Pulmonary Vein Isolation in Patients With Persistent Atrial Fibrillation: One-Year Outcome Using Second Generation Cryoballoon.

BACKGROUND Data regarding the freedom from atrial fibrillation (AF) in the follow-up of persistent AF patients is limited. The second-generation cryoballoon has better cooling properties compared with first-generation cryoballon. In this study, we aimed to assess the medium-term efficacy of second-generation cryoballoon in patients with persistent AF. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 100 patien...

One-year clinical outcome after pulmonary vein isolation using the second-generation 28-mm cryoballoon.

BACKGROUND The use of second-generation cryoballoon for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation has demonstrated encouraging acute and mid-term results. Long-term outcome data are not yet available. METHODS AND RESULTS Fifty patients (18 women; mean age, 61±11 years; mean left atrial diameter, 43±5 mm) with paroxysmal (36 of 50 patients; 72%) or short-standing...

Pulmonary Vein Stenosis After Second-Generation Cryoballoon Ablation.

BACKGROUND Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVST) can occur after first-generation cryoballoon ablation. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence, severity, and characteristics of PVST after second-generation cryoballoon ablation. METHODS In total, 103 patients underwent PV isolation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation using second-generation cryoballoons with a single big-balloon 3-minute freeze tec...

One-Year Clinical Outcome of Pulmonary Vein Isolation Using the Second-Generation Cryoballoon: A Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND The second-generation cryoballoon (CB-2G) is a promising technique to treat atrial fibrillation (AF). It is necessary to summarize and analyze the available data on 1-year clinical outcome of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with CB-2G. METHODS PubMed and the Web of Science were searched in May 2015. Studies that reported the 1-year clinical success rates after PVI using CB-2G were i...

Pulmonary vein stenosis after second-generation cryoballoon ablation for atrial fibrillation

Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the cornerstone of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF), especially in paroxysmal 1 AF patients. In addition to a radiofrequency ablation catheter, a cryoballoon has been proven as an effective technology in PVI for AF. Recently several randomized trials have shown that cryoballoon ablation was noninferior to radiofrequency ablation with respect to ef...
